INVITATION (Where the Sidewalk Ends)
If you are a dreamer, come in,
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer…
If you’re a pretender, come sit by my fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!
-Shel Silverstein
I liked this piggy-back from the Muir quote...both thinking the same thing, but Silverstein placing a more positive and fun spin on it. Due to poetry written for children this is what we seem to do! Everything is fun and fun and fun and play. The Muir quote placed the feeling of a "magic bean buyer" as something to yearn for and miss in his present state. Silverstein makes it the present, invites it as the title suggests!
ReplyDeleteThis gathering of fellow thinkers- belongs in a Hobbit tale!
This made me think of another format for posting- comparison BETWEEN poems! Maybe we can link a few together, similars (totally loving this new word) or opposites ideas along the same lines of thought?
ReplyDeleteI just had that same idea less than 2 minutes ago. I was thinking of pairing two poems about living and maybe a third. December???? We can pair themes and do two poems every other day?
DeleteI want to be a dreamer. I want to spin flax golden tales.
