This is a small poetry club that started as a poetry email exchange between two friends. Our goal is to read a poem everyday, and this blog is one way to help keep us accountable. There is only one valid rule in poetry club: there are no rules in poetry club. Read any poem, in any order, with any or no interactions. You decide. We only suggest you read poetry!
17 Nov: "Forget memory..." by Haiku Frank
Forget memory And condemn nostalgia Life lies in living.. -Haiku Frank http://www.haikufrank.co.uk/haiku_poems_philosophical.html
ONLY the present exists. We cannot prove the future nor, technically, the past. For it was the present. We can only know each moment as it is. Life, as Haiku Frank describes, is lived now, in the living. Poem written after death of a loved one?
I love the use of the word lie. That was my idea, but someone in the past already had it.
Life tells non truths in living. This interpretation is a lot more interesting to me. Life is a lie. People are so fixed on the past that life becomes deceitful. Maybe the zombies got it all figured out. Just be. As you mentioned.
