This is a small poetry club that started as a poetry email exchange between two friends. Our goal is to read a poem everyday, and this blog is one way to help keep us accountable. There is only one valid rule in poetry club: there are no rules in poetry club. Read any poem, in any order, with any or no interactions. You decide. We only suggest you read poetry!
What do you think about the light-heartedness of suicide? Since all the options are pretty lousy, just keep living. It comes off a bit insensitive to me when I try to sympathize with what a suicidal person feels. They feel like dying is a much better options than living. Which is difficult for me to fully comprehend, I would see if Mrs. Parker fully comprehended those feelings.
A side note. Guns are lawful. Couldn't she come up with a better example? Although guns being one syllable makes it a tough replacement. I can't really think of anything and "guns" fits really well with the meter established.
A fitting poet for the current climate.
