TODAY
Oh! kangaroos, sequins, chocolate sodas!
You really are beautiful! Pearls,
harmonicas, jujubes, aspirins! all
the stuff they've always talked about
still makes a poem a surprise!
These things are with us every day
even on beachheads and biers. They
do have meaning. They're strong as rocks.

This is a small poetry club that started as a poetry email exchange between two friends. Our goal is to read a poem everyday, and this blog is one way to help keep us accountable. There is only one valid rule in poetry club: there are no rules in poetry club. Read any poem, in any order, with any or no interactions. You decide. We only suggest you read poetry!

Copy cat poem for kids? This would be a cool poem to try to emulate with students.
ReplyDeleteIt says a lot about what makes a poem meaningful. Today makes the poem meaningful. Anything makes the poem meaningful. It doesn't matter what the poem is about; I like that idea.
Chocolate sodas????
