11 Mar: "i will wade out..." by ee cummings

i will wade out
till my thighs are steeped in burning flowers
I will take the sun in my mouth
and leap into the ripe air
                                       Alive
                                                 with closed eyes
to dash against darkness
in the sleeping curves of my body
Shall enter fingers of smooth mastery
with chasteness of sea-girls
                                            Will i complete the mystery
                                            of my flesh
I will rise
               After a thousand years
lipping
flowers
And set my teeth in the silver of the moon

  1. I cannot quite picture it. I almost see an insect or plant, or some other animal. But I just cannot connect the images properly

  2. Yesterday's poem and today is the first encounter I have had with ee cummings. He is quite the dreamer, isn't he? He loves taking the route of philosophy....
I picture him wading out onto a lake or ocean that has a field of flowers growing from the top....and within he finds the mermaids! Has many affairs under their allure and after a thousand years is finally ready to surface again on this field on top of the lake...
