This is a small poetry club that started as a poetry email exchange between two friends. Our goal is to read a poem everyday, and this blog is one way to help keep us accountable. There is only one valid rule in poetry club: there are no rules in poetry club. Read any poem, in any order, with any or no interactions. You decide. We only suggest you read poetry!

7 Oct: "Masks" by Shel Silverstein
She had blue skin,
And so did he.
He kept it hid
And so did she.
They searched for blue
Their whole life through,
Then passed right by-
And never knew.
This children's poem is worth reading at any age. It is perfect for young people trying to find themselves and their identity, but even as an adult I can relate. We hide things to get through life, and what do we miss out on in doing so? I guess we'll never know!
