This is a small poetry club that started as a poetry email exchange between two friends. Our goal is to read a poem everyday, and this blog is one way to help keep us accountable. There is only one valid rule in poetry club: there are no rules in poetry club. Read any poem, in any order, with any or no interactions. You decide. We only suggest you read poetry!

5 Aug: "Ambition Over Adversity" by Tupac Shakur
Take one's adversity
Learn from their misfortune
Learn from their pain
Believe in something
Believe in yourself
Turn adversity into ambition
Now blossom into wealth
I especially like the take one's adversity. Those are the smartest people: the one's who learn from other's mistakes or misfortunes.
Is it me, or does it sounds so easy? Just learn and turn with belief. I wonder if ambitious people also create more adversity to overcome? I've meet very few success people who can admit their privilege and handouts. Instead, I think, people like to exaggerate their adversity to make their success and achievements more egocentric (I can't find the right word), but pretty much they want to make themselves more responsible than reality would allow.
