16 Aug: "Resume" by Dorothy Parker

Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren’t lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.

  2. What do you think about the light-heartedness of suicide? Since all the options are pretty lousy, just keep living. It comes off a bit insensitive to me when I try to sympathize with what a suicidal person feels. They feel like dying is a much better options than living. Which is difficult for me to fully comprehend, I would see if Mrs. Parker fully comprehended those feelings.

    A side note. Guns are lawful. Couldn't she come up with a better example? Although guns being one syllable makes it a tough replacement. I can't really think of anything and "guns" fits really well with the meter established.
