white mounds
India red
spills on ivory
Ochre cannon balls
falling
next to blanc pebbles
Red beans and milk
make burgundy wine
Violet pouring
from the eggshell
tinge of the plate.

ReplyDeleteAlso the contrast between white and red signifies the contrast between colonial and native cultures.
ReplyDeletePuerto Rican flag has red and white stripes. They are the combination of native and Western cooked like a bean from fire, lava, and cannons.
